Wednesday August 23rd, 2023. 8am - 1pm
8AM-Meet up at Mana Foods in Carbondale CO, consolidate vehicles for carpooling and drive to the trail head.
850AM- Second meet up at the Capitol Creek lower parking lot(horse trailer lot): move everyone to 4x4s (no 2WD after this point) and drive up to the trail head.
9AM-From there we will move as a group into the forest towards and around hard scrabble lake area. We will walk along the road and trails and off the path. Please consider your own ability to hike and walk, don’t take any risks! Take care of your self and those around you. Don’t wander off alone. stay within shouting distance.
1PM- We will gather and return to the 4x4s and head down to the lower parking lot. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE UNTIL ALL YOUR PASSENGERS ARE ACCOUNTED FOR….I expect to be back in carbondale (Mana Foods) around 2-2:30pm
This is a Foray to make observations, collect data and images and learn about mycology/ fungi ID. We MIGHT be collecting specimens but we are at the whims of nature.
We will not wait for the late. Everyone’s time is precious so respect it. Please be on time.
24 people maximum for this foray. First come first serve. Reserve your place by submitting the FORM HERE There will be different guides for different forays, some guides will ask for a donation to compensate their time.
Members participate in forays at their own risk, WCMA will not be responsible if members get lost or injured.
You need to bring:
Hiking shoes, A hat: appropriate mountain clothing, prepare for rain and weather.
Water bottle, snacks
Your ID book
A collection basket or bag.
A camera for documenting specimens
A knife for picking and cleaning specimens
A open mind and heart and a willingness to learn.
OTHER SCHEDULED FORAYS WILL BE POSTED ON THE CALENDAR AND MEMBERS WILL BE INFORMED AS SOON AS WE SCHEDULE THEM.
If you wish to assist me, Hamilton, as a “second” guide please let me know. If we have a big group i will need help! Also, if you want to lead a foray this season please reach out to me personally.
